Cash for the vote is not a Corruption Act? Twist Awaits: Revanth Reddy
Nampally court has accepted the entire charge sheet in the vote for cash case. Rewanth reddy, who was arrested in this case, has been released from jail on bail. The case came to the force once again with the latest entire charge sheet. On the other hand, Revant reddy and Venkata Virayya have filed petitions in the supreme court on the issue of the ballot paper. Sandra had filed a petition in the supreme court seeking the removal of her name from the case. The bicameral tribunal heard the petitions filed by Rewanth, Want and Sandra separately on Wednesday.The telangana government has been directed to file a counter affidavit by next Tuesday. It then directed the petitioners to reply to it within a week. The next hearing was adjourned to september 7. He had earlier approached the supreme court following a high court order refusing to remove Sandra's name from the case. The high court had earlier dismissed a petition filed by Rewanth alleging that the acb court had no jurisdiction to hear the case.Senior advocate siddharth Luthra, appearing for Rewanth, told the apex court that the voter note case did not fall under the Anti-Corruption Act. He said that although the supreme court had said in the narasimha Rao judgment that mla elections were not part of the activities of the Legislative assembly and that MLAs were public servants, the definition was different according to the Constitution. He questioned how the anti-corruption law would be applied in this case.
