In protests of the fuel rate increase, congress leader and former karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah, State congress Chairman DK Shivakumar, and other party party leaders gathered at the Legislative assembly in Bengaluru on tongas. DK Shivakumar wrote on Twitter, "The common people's backs have been shattered by rising fuel and vital commodity prices.

We walked from the KPCC office to Vidhana Soudha on Tangas to attend the last week of the Session Of the assembly in outrage, alongside CLP leader Sri Siddaramaiah and other congress officials." On september 13, a group of congress officials led by DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah used a bullock truck to oppose rising gasoline prices at the Vidhana Soudha.

Basavaraj Bommai, the chief minister of karnataka, retaliated against the congress party, accusing it of doing little about rising prices, particularly petrol prices, while the UPA was in office. "When the UPA government was in charge, they should really have executed it. When the UPA was in control, fuel costs increased by 100%. This would have mattered more if they had objected when the UPA was in power. I'm sure they'll bring it up in the Legislature, and I'll respond there "In response to a query about the protest, Bommai stated earlier.
