The new international airport at Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, was inaugurated by the prime minister, with the first landing aircraft from Sri Lanka. The Kushinagar airport in Uttar Pradesh was inaugurated today by prime minister Narendra Modi, with an aircraft from sri lanka being the first to land there.
Kushinagar airport was built for Rs 260 crore by the Airports Authority of India. The new international terminal building at the airport is 3,600 square meters in data-size.
The airport, which costs Rs 260 crore to construct, will help both domestic and foreign passengers by offering a direct link to the Buddha's majestic location. The airport will serve the adjacent Uttar Pradesh and bihar districts. Tourists and travellers from countries with large Buddhist populations, such as Japan, South Korea, sri lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Taiwan, will use the airport.

Prime minister Modi will speak at an event at the Mahaparinirvana Stupa and Buddhist centres of worship following the airport's opening.
