TN Governor warns Chennai People not to Step Out of Homes

As heavy rains continue, governor RN ravi has asked tamil Nadu residents not to venture out needlessly. "In the wake of the heavy rains forecast by the indian Meteorological Department, governor of tamil Nadu RN ravi has asked the people of tamil Nadu to be vigilant and take precautionary measures, and to avoid any unnecessary movement and untoward incidents," the Governor's house said on social media. 


A low-pressure region is currently forming in the Bay of bengal due to the intensification of the northeast monsoon. Heavy rains are expected in the delta areas, according to the chennai Meteorological Department, and will last for three days in Chennai.  In the event that low pressure develops, the tamil Nadu government has increased its preventive steps to prevent severe rains in the state. In the previous 24 hours, it has rained in 38 districts in tamil Nadu. The state's average rainfall is 16.94 millimeters. 


A maximum of 74.34 mm was recorded at Chengalpattu district. From 1.10.2021 to 09.10.2021, the northeast monsoon got 365.94 mm. This is 46 percent more rainfall than the average of 245.3 mm. 16 areas in the districts of  Thoothukudi, Kanyakumari, Tenkasi, Chengalpet and kanchipuram got significant rainfall.
