Saurabh Kripal: The first Gay judge in India...?
The supreme court Collegium has recommended the appointment of senior lawyer Saurabh Kripal as a judge of the delhi High Court. If accepted, he would be the first gay judge in the country.
Saurabh Kripal graduated from St. Stephen's College, delhi and later completed his LLB from Oxford university with a scholarship. He then received his LL.M. from Cambridge University.
He worked for some time with the United Nations in Geneva and then came to india in 1990. Here he advocated in the supreme court for two decades.
Former Additional Solicitor General (ASG) and senior supreme court lawyer Vikas Singh are close to Saurabh Kripal.
