A young man was fined Rs 75,000 by the
chennai High
court for marrying a
girl and publishing intimate images of her on Facebook.
suresh is from the Perambalur district's Kunnam region, where he met and married an 18-year-old
girl in June.
suresh was booked under the Child
marriage Prevention Act and the POCSO Act, arrested, and then released on bail in the High
court, according to a complaint filed by the girl's mother at the Kunnam
police station.
The daughter turned 18 and her
parents married Velmurugan while
suresh was in jail.
suresh had filed an appeal at the High
court, claiming that his
wife was being held against his will and that he should be brought to court. The woman was urged to withdraw the complaint when it came up for hearing in the session of Justices BN Prakash and R Hemalatha because she was married to someone else. Suresh's spokesperson, on the other hand, stated that he would like to accompany him if his
wife, who is being held in the family's illegal custody, is brought in person and probed, and the case is not dismissed.
According to the
court order, the woman, her mother, and her
husband then appeared. The woman went on to tell the judges that she had married Velmurugan of her own free will, with her parents' permission. He also said that
suresh was already involved with two women, both of whom had left him owing to Suresh's wrongdoing.
suresh had uploaded close-up images of himself with his daughter on Facebook, according to the Thai
lawyer at the time. Suresh's argument for the woman's release was disregarded by the judges who recorded these.
suresh was also fined Rs 75,000 by the judges, who directed him to pay the money to the girl's mother within eight weeks.
