Sri Lankans in Deep Trouble..! Worst Economic Crisis..!?
Sri Lanka, which until a decade ago was in a
sea of tears due to the (war) war, is now in debt due to the (economic) war. Due to the severe economic crisis in
sri lanka, the prices of all essential commodities, including milk and rice, have risen to an all-time high. There is also a shortage of fuel, including
petrol and diesel. As a result, more than 90 percent of restaurants are closed. In
sri lanka, a kilo of rice is currently sold for 448 Sri Lankan rupees.
sugar is priced at Rs 280 per kg. A pound of
gold sells for Rs 1.41 lakh. The price of a cylinder has increased to 2,675 rupees. As a result, middle-class families along with marginalized
people are most affected.
The country, including the
capital Colombo, has been plunged into darkness for hours. With the demand for
electricity rising in the summer,
people fear that the power outage time will increase even more. The Sri Lankan Department of
education has indefinitely postponed the exams scheduled to be written by about 45 lakh
students as they could not import enough paper and printing ink due to the declining foreign exchange reserves.
In many parts of the country,
people have been waiting a long time for food and fuel. Affected
people besiege the Chancellery and hold protests. Due to the conflict over
petrol stocks, soldiers have been deployed on duty. It was also reported that 3 elderly
people who were standing in line to buy fuel were killed due to the cruelty of the sun. Many
tamil people who could not bear the cost of killing are fleeing to
tamil Nadu as refugees. It is said that up to 4 thousand Tamils can come to
tamil Nadu from Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka continuously borrowing from
china for many years. In 2022 alone, about 58 trillion Sri Lankan rupees will be repaid to China. In this context, on
march 17, the
government of
india extended a loan of $ 100 billion (Rs. 7,500 crore) to Sri Lanka.
An
international law firm is to be appointed to deal with the economic crisis and it is planned to adjust the financial position as per its guidance.
sri lanka has been seeking China's assistance since last December, but no information has been released on China's position.
