Quarter of the country's electricity is paralyzed..!?

A quarter of the country's electricity generation has been cut off due to severe coal shortages, according to a monitoring report by the Central electricity Authority. About 70 percent of India's electricity generation is dependent on coal. The recent corporate scandals are the reason for the demand for this specialty. Household electricity demand has also increased due to the intense summer heat. In this situation, there is a severe shortage of coal. Imports have also declined. There is also a shortage of coal-carrying racks. Thus power generation is affected.
As of april 20, a total of 72,074 MW of thermal, nuclear, and hydropower plants have been shut down, according to the Federal electricity Authority's performance monitoring report. This is almost 25% of the total monitoring capacity of 289,581 MW. At the beginning of april, the total volume stopped was 66,534 MW. Currently, more units are paralyzed due to the coal shortage.
Of the 72,000 MW of electricity that has been shut down, 9,744 MW is planned to be shut down earlier for maintenance. 38,826 MW of power generation has been halted due to a shortage of coal. 23,503 MW of power generation has been halted due to other reasons. As of april 20, 86 of the 150 coal-fired power plants had very low coal levels. In the last 2 days alone the coal reserve in 5 units has fallen below the critical level.
The power outage lasted for 6 to 8 hours in parts of the north, including Uttar Pradesh and Punjab, and southern Andhra Pradesh. Due to this, the costs of the industry have increased. As diesel prices have also gone up, generating electricity for plants through generators has also become more costly. With the problem of rising prices already looming, economists fear that power shortages could affect production and push up prices further.
