PM Modi targeting South India
On May 26, prime minister Narendra Modi paid a visit to the state in an attempt to expand the BJP's support there. Modi attacked the state's trs administration and chief minister of dynastic tyranny and superstition during a rally in Hyderabad, stating that if dynastic parties are thrown out, quick progress occurs. He called dynastic parties "enemies of democracy," saying that nepotism denies young people opportunity and kills their hopes because they only serve to enrich themselves and can never benefit the state.
The prime minister added that the decade-long agitation for the formation of telangana state was not for the welfare of one family, but for the future of telangana, for the pride of Telangana. Modi's objectives were made obvious when he visited Chennai, tamil Nadu, on May 26. Though the assembly elections in kerala and tamil Nadu are not until 2026, the bjp wants to send a signal to voters in the lok sabha elections in 2024 that the party is on the rise by demonstrating its mettle in these two states.
The bjp seeks to encircle the Left Front administration in kerala, as well as congress leader rahul gandhi, who is a lok sabha mp from wayanad in kerala, by expanding the party's base in Kerala. Smriti Irani, the Union minister who defeated rahul gandhi in the lok sabha elections in Amethi, recently paid a visit to Wayanad. Andhra Pradesh, tamil Nadu, telangana, kerala, and karnataka are the five South indian states that elect 129 MPs to the Lok Sabha. These five states have a large say in forming the government in the lok sabha elections of 2024, thus it's critical for the bjp to grow its popularity in these states.
