Indian PM Modi and Chinese President Xi jinping shake hands at G20 dinner in first meeting after Ladakh conflict. The two have now come face to face since the Ladakh conflict two years ago. While President Xi jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan stopped by to speak with Indonesian President Joko Widodo, prime minister Modi had a sit-down conversation with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. Smiling, Modi rose from his seat and shook hands with prime minister Xi Jinping.
Modi, who was accompanied by an interpreter, then spoke with Xi jinping for a few minutes. indian and Chinese leaders avoided each other during their last face-to-face multilateral meeting at the shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Samarkand, uzbekistan on september 15-16.
In june 2020, 20 indian soldiers and at least four Chinese troops were killed in a brutal encounter in the Kalwan Valley.
