In Virugambakkam, a residential neighbourhood in chennai, The Greater chennai police raided a prostitution ring and detained five people, among them three women. The police officers claim they have information that some individuals are forcing young women who travel to chennai from other cities in quest of employment into prostitution. These individuals are allegedly functioning as brokers.
A special team was established to keep an eye on the gang under the command of chennai police Commissioner shankar Jiwal. In recent days, the police have detained a few brokers, but they have kept conducting searches. The police monitored a residence in Saligramam after receiving a tip, and they discovered that a woman had been placed there and coerced into prostitution. The woman was saved by the police, who also detained B Benedick Nelson, 53, of Tirunelveli, and v Karthikeyan, 46, both of Madurai. They had their mobile phones and other technology taken.
Today afternoon, a lady who has been travelling through Little Mount area was shocked to see an ad running in a lodge with a message, "Get in and F*ck any girls @ Rs.1000".
