Russian
oil issue..!? Ban on India..?
When there was a question of whether the US will impose sanctions on
india for buying
oil from
russia, the US has given an open answer. It has been almost a year since the start of the
war, and it has had a huge impact on the world stage. Much of the world has rallied against
russia over the
ukraine issue. Various sanctions were imposed against Russia.
In particular,
oil exports to most countries come from Russia. However, following the
ukraine crisis, various economic sanctions were imposed on
russia, which affected the food supply chain. But, as far as
india is concerned, it never took a stand against Russia. Although various resolutions were passed against
russia in the UN,
india ignored all the resolutions. All attempts by the West to include
india in an alliance against
russia have failed.
Similarly, it continues to say that the
war should be ended through negotiations. Meanwhile,
india has been buying increasingly cheap Russian oil. It refines the
oil it buys from
russia into fuel and sells it to
europe and the US. Similarly, the fuel refined in
india is said not to be of Russian origin. When there was a question of whether the US will impose sanctions on
india for buying
oil from
russia, the US has given an open answer. The US says it has no plans to impose sanctions on India. Elaborating on this, Secretary of State for
european and Eurasian Affairs Karen Danfried said that the relationship with
india is very consequential.
While the US and
india have different policy approaches, both share a commitment to maintaining order based on
international rules and respecting territorial integrity and sovereignty, he said. Speaking further, US Secretary of State for Energy and Resources Jeffrey Piatt said that the
united states is comfortable with India's approach to Russian
oil purchases, but they value their ongoing dialogue on this issue.
