What results did the 3-day survey at BBC's offices reveal?

Tuesday marked the start of the I-T department's "survey" to look into concerns regarding foreign taxation and transfer pricing of BBC subsidiary firms.

The survey of the Income Tax Department was completed in the Delhi-Mumbai office of the british Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). This survey lasted for about 60 hours. An Income Tax Department official claimed that the income and profit figures shown by BBC's various organizations are not in accordance with their operations in India. This statement came a day after the Income Tax Department's 'survey' against the BBC lasted for three days.

In its statement, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the administrative body of the Income Tax department, said without naming the media organisation, that foreign units of a leading international media company have not paid tax on certain amounts sent abroad. However, the Income Tax officials made it clear that this statement was related to the survey conducted on the premises of british Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) in India. Sources associated with the BBC said that on receiving any formal direct information from the Income Tax Department in this regard, they would respond appropriately.
