Co-Operative Banks are Profitable Last Year
Tamil Nadu State Headquarter Co-operative bank and 23 district Central Co-operative Banks were profitable last year. minister K. R. Periyagaruppan said that all state cooperative departments had appreciated this. On behalf of the National Federation of Co-operative Banks and the tamil Nadu Co-operative Department, a national-level seminar on ``Foresight on the Antidote for Rural Short-Term Co-operative Credit System'' was held in chennai yesterday.
Inaugurating the seminar, minister for Cooperatives K. R. Periyakaruppan said, ``In the year 2022-23, tamil Nadu State Chief Cooperative bank and 23 district Central Cooperative Banks have made a profit. It also implemented welfare schemes for the economic development of farmers, weavers, fishermen, differently-abled persons, rural artisans, and women. The tamil Nadu government is working to strengthen cooperative societies," he said.
Later, the minister told the press: "At the beginning of the seminar, they explained how the activities of cooperative banks are in every state, from rural to urban areas. State Chief Cooperative bank and 23 district Cooperative Banks in tamil Nadu have been operating profitably for the last 2 years. For this, other state cooperatives expressed appreciation. During the cooperative sector grant request, the chief minister announced the schemes for economically backward people. All the state officials welcomed these plans," he said.
