The bharatiya janata party, which ran as the incumbent in the karnataka assembly elections, suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of the electorate. According to the post-poll study, the telugu community played a substantial part in the BJP's defeat. The telugu community is widely dispersed throughout the state of karnataka, but it is particularly strong in the state capital of Bengaluru, where there are also a significant number of North Indians. In fact, they also make up a significant vote bank.

According to the report, the telugu community significantly contributed to the congress party's win. The majority of telugu people reside in ten or so districts in karnataka, excluding Bengaluru. Very few seats in these districts went to the BJP. Four of the ten districts out of the total ten saw no seats won by the BJP. The saffron party won seats in each of the remaining six districts, taking one in three and two in the other three.

In these ten districts, there are 63 assembly constituencies, however, the bjp only succeeded in winning 9 of them. One could argue that these ten districts were crucial to the BJP's crushing defeat. The majority of residents from North india contributed to the bjp winning more seats in Bengaluru. At the same time, the bjp suffered a crushing defeat in areas with a sizable telugu and Kannadiga population. congress has shown unquestionable power.
