Ahead of the G-20 Tourism Working Group meeting slated for next week, schools in "vulnerable" areas have been closed, and minorities, migrant workers, and mainstream politicians in Kashmir, particularly srinagar, have been warned.

Several schools in the city, particularly those in "vulnerable pockets" in srinagar, would be closed for the following week, according to official sources. A teacher at a private school outside of srinagar claimed she had received "directions from the school administration to announce a nine-day holiday beginning May 17". 


"The general consensus is that there won't be any disruptions at the G-20 summit. Saif-ud-Din Soz, a senior member of the Congress, stated, "I wish the administration wouldn't impose its will and ask educational institutions to close for five to seven days.

According to official sources, security has been tightened around the minority community residents' pockets in south Kashmir, and the residents have been warned "to be careful, especially after sundown." police have been told to keep a closer eye on the neighbourhoods in the city where migrant workers live. Official sources claim, a number of road crossroads where workers would congregate have been closed to traffic and workers have been warned against congregating on the sides of the road.
