Telangana - CM KCR pays tributes to activist Bhagya Reddy Varma

On the occasion of his 135th birthday, chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao paid tribute to social reformer and activist Bhagya reddy Varma on Monday, stressing his major contributions to the advancement of the Dalit community. To recognize Bhagya reddy Varma's ideas and objectives, the State government is formally organizing his birth and death anniversaries.

The chief minister said in a statement that Bhagya reddy Varma founded institutions for Dalit females in the former hyderabad State, building strong foundations for their empowerment and education. He praised Madari Bhagya reddy Varma for his tireless efforts to advance Dalit knowledge through lectures, books, and Harikathas (oral storytelling).

Chandrashekhar Rao said Bhagya reddy Varma served as an inspiration for the telangana government's effective implementation of a number of programs to elevate Scheduled Castes (SCs), with a particular emphasis on their education and empowerment. A special development fund, the Ambedkar overseas scholarship for higher education abroad, skill training programs, the allocation of three acres of land for Dalits, concessions for sc business owners, TS-PRIDE to train Dalit business owners, up to 101 units of free electricity for economically disadvantaged sc families, and the Gurukula program to give SCs a better future through quality education are some of these initiatives.


The chief minister stressed that the government is aggressively pursuing the total development of SCs, putting a particular emphasis on education and other initiatives. He noted the Telangana-specific Dalit Bandhu plan, which seeks to guarantee SCs' total development and independence. Along with erecting a 125-foot statue of Dr. BR Ambedkar in hyderabad, the telangana State secretariat has been renamed in his honour, underscoring the dedication of the administration to advancing the Dalit community. He stressed the need for more steps to fully elevate Dalits and pledged to pursue them aggressively in the future.
