There have been multiple reports of PAN holders having trouble downloading the challan after paying the price for connecting the two papers, even though friday (June 30) is the final day for doing so. on this respect, it is to be advised that status of challan payment may be checked on "e-pay tax" page of site after login, the Income Tax Department stated in a post. The PAN holder can proceed to link their PAN with their Aadhaar if a payment is successful, it stated.
Additionally, it said that uploading the challan receipt was not necessary in order to link the PAN to the Aadhaar. It said, "Furthermore, an email with an attached copy of the challan is already being sent to the PAN holder as soon as the PAN holder completes the payment successfully." The department will give such instances due consideration if fee payment and linking consent have been obtained but linking has not yet occurred as of june 30. The time to connect PAN with Aadhaar cards expired on friday, therefore it had to be completed after paying a fee of Rs 1,000.
