Swachh Sena’s GPS technology leads to recovery of missing SAT vehicle in Telangana Hyderabad
The Swachh Sena initiative, started by GHMC-Sukuki Exnora, successfully tracked and recovered a missing Swachh auto Trolley (SAT) vehicle using GPS technology, in a spectacular illustration of the power of technology and teamwork. 30 Ex-Servicemen who make up the Swachh Sena have been working to improve and streamline SAT operations, which are in charge of collecting door-to-door rubbish inside the ghmc boundaries, for the past six months.
The team has made substantial advancements in SAT services through the use of GPS technologies and Geographic Information System (GIS), leading to increased efficiency and accountability. A special Swachh auto Trolley Control Room was also set up at the ghmc office as part of these initiatives. It is equipped to track and monitor the daily movements of 4,281 SAT vehicles, producing thorough reports that are shared with pertinent ghmc personnel in order to facilitate quick field interventions.
However, on june 18, 2023, one of the SAT trucks, operated by anand, and bearing the licence plate TS 10 STR1837, was operating in the Khairatabad region when it vanished. anand immediately made an official complaint to the Saifabad Police, which started an inquiry. Ex-Serviceman M Yadagiri, who had been assigned to the case and was working with the Swachh Sena in the Khairatabad Circle, worked with GIS engineer Katti Raju to use GPS to locate the vehicle's whereabouts.
Raju provided vital screen photos that showed the SAT to be located on the Bodhan-Nizamabad Highway, around 190 kilometres from hyderabad, with coordinates of 18.67698 N Latitude and 77.95738 E Longitude. The screen photos also showed that "Taj bike Point" was nearby, which led to suspicions.
