The international english language Testing System (IELTS) will be used for the Intermediate students' english practical tests beginning this academic year. A handout describing the english practical sessions for first-year intermediate students in 2023–2024 has been made available by the telangana State Board of Intermediate education (TS BIE). Similar to the IELTS, which is an english language exam for studying or working in foreign countries where english is the national tongue, students will be assessed for their competency in the four language skills of hearing, reading, writing, and speaking.

As part of the Intermediate Public Examinations, the english practical tests will be given for 20 points, while the theoretical paper will receive 80 points. It will be open to all students, regardless of their academic field. The syllabus for the english theoretical and practical tests was recently determined by the Board, which recently assembled an expert team. "The practicals are intended to help pupils become more fluent in English. The test will resemble the IELTS. Only first-year Intermediate students will be subject to it. students must pass both the theory and practical tests, and the practical scores will also be included to the final grade, according to an official.

As of right now, intermediate students must pass practical tests in broad streams including physics, chemistry, botany, and zoology as well as in a number of vocational fields. The administration must build up english language laboratories and instruct students in speaking, listening, reading, and writing, just like they do for science streams.

Students can use computers to record their speaking abilities and use english language assessment software to check for any grammar, pronunciation, or other mistakes. english labs may not be immediately necessary, but institutions must ultimately set them up, the official continued.
