'Country is fortunate to have a person like PM Modi': Who said?
External Affairs minister S jaishankar said on saturday that the extraordinary thing about prime minister Modi is that he knows the pulse of many things, which he translates into policies and programmes. On his journey from a diplomat to a politician, jaishankar said that as a diplomat he always worked with politicians, but entering the 24×7 world of politics with no weekend is different. jaishankar is in thailand to attend the 12th meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Mekong ganga Cooperation (MGC) Mechanism and the Foreign Ministers' Conference of BIMSTEC (Bay of bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation).
Addressing the people of the indian community soon after reaching bangkok here, jaishankar said, 'I think it is a great fortune for the country to have a person like PM Modi at this time. And I am not saying this because he is the prime minister of today and I am a member of his cabinet. I say this because when you have a once-in-a-century health challenge, only someone who is so down to earth can say okay, there is a health challenge, but what about the people going home? what will be done for; what will you do to feed them; How will you put money in their account. Many people will not have the idea that women will manage money better.
jaishankar said, 'Good leaders are people who are down to earth, very experienced with what is happening, but they also have the passion to take the country to a different level - very down to earth' And very visionary. And such people, I can tell you, come once in a lifetime.' The External Affairs minister said that according to him the best diplomat of any time is Lord Hanuman.
