Manipur Violence: Houses of parliament met with uproar…

During the Monsoon session of the parliament, both the Houses (Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha) witnessed ruckus for the second consecutive day in connection with Manipur violence and two women being paraded naked in the state.

For this reason, shortly after the commencement of the rajya sabha proceedings, it was adjourned till 2.30 pm. After this it was adjourned till 11 am on monday (July 24). At the same time, the proceedings of the lok sabha were also adjourned till 11 am on Monday.

The opposition and the central government are attacking each other regarding this. On the one hand, the opposition is adamant on the statement of prime minister Narendra Modi inside the house on the issue of Manipur, while the government is saying that the opposition is not allowing the house to function.

What is the opposition saying?

Congress President MallikarjunKharge said, "We had raised the issue of Manipur's video in parliament, but we did not get a chance." The government should discuss this topic. We demand that prime minister Narendra Modi should make a statement in the House. It is our misfortune that he made a statement outside the house but did not say anything inside even when the parliament was in session.Congress MPs manish Tewari, Manickam Tagore and some other opposition MPs on friday gave adjournment notices demanding PM Modi's statement and discussion in both houses of parliament on the Manipur issue.
