Tribute paid to Ateeq Ahmad in Parliament..!?

: The Monsoon session of the parliament is quite an uproar. There was an uproar in both Houses of parliament for two days over the issue of women roaming naked in Manipur and it was adjourned till Monday. However, on the first day of parliament on Thursday, tributes were paid to the present and former MPs of the lok sabha who passed away. Former mp Ateeq Ahmed's name figured prominently in the list of recipients of tribute. lok sabha Speaker om birla while paying tribute to Atiq ahmed also read out a letter in his honor. Atiq ahmed and his former mla brother Ashraf were shot dead in police custody in april last.

Two sitting MPs Balubhau alias suresh Narayan Dhanorkar and Ratan Lal Kataria were among the MPs and former MPs to whom tributes were paid during the monsoon session. Apart from this, lok sabha Speaker om birla also read the tributes of 11 former MPs. Former MPs who paid tribute included former CMs Parkash Singh Badal, Sujan Singh Bundela, Ranjit Singh, Sandipan Thorat, Viswanatham Kanithi, Atiq Ahmed, Trilochan Kanungo, Ilyas Azmi, Anadi Charan Das, nihal Singh, and Raj karan Singh.

About Atiq Ahmed, om birla said that he was a member of the 14th lok sabha from Phulpur constituency in Uttar Pradesh. He was a member of a committee related to railways. He was also a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly. He died on april 15, 2023, at Prayagraj at the age of 60. After reading out all the obituaries, Birla expressed grief over the deaths and offered condolences on behalf of the house to the families. After this, all the members present in the lok sabha including bjp and other parties stood at their places and kept silent for a moment.

Former mp Atiq ahmed and his brother former mla Ashraf were murdered on 15 april 2023. Both these murders were committed in front of the police. Under the security of heavy police force, Atiq and Ashraf were being taken to Prayagraj at night for a medical examination. At the same time, three youths reached the mike-camera of the media persons and in front of the police fired bullets at both of them. After killing Ateeq-Ashraf, they surrendered themselves to the police. Ateeq and Ashraf were killed days after Ateeq's son Asad ahmed was killed in a police encounter. Atiq had moved the supreme court for protection, claiming that he and his family had been falsely implicated in the murder of lawyer Umesh Pal and that the Uttar Pradesh police might kill him in a fake encounter. The gangster-turned-politician had over 90 criminal cases against him including murder, kidnapping, and extortion. He was also accused of assaulting a professor at allahabad University in 2018.
