Telangana Rains - Streams, tanks overflow in erstwhile Khammam
In the former khammam district, streams and tanks were overflowing after the recent moderate to extremely high rains. In Kusumanchi mandal, 11.2 cm of rain fell, in Bonakal, 12.4 cm, and in khammam Rural mandal, 10.8 cm. In the district, eight mandals experienced moderate rain while 11 mandals received heavy rain. Due to the rise in the water level in the river Akeru in the khammam Rural mandal, which caused the interruption of vehicle traffic between Tirthala, Mangalagudem, and other villages, the flood reached the major road at Tirthala.
In Akeru, a cow washed away while crossing the Tirthala bridge due to flooding. Because of the overflowing Katteleru stream in ap, traffic between andhra pradesh and telangana was interrupted.
Vehicle traffic between Yellandu and kothagudem in kothagudem came to a complete stop for a while due to a tree that fell on the major road close to Tekulapally.
