Telangana Rains - Irrigation officials to lift SRSP gates

The officials are getting ready to open the gates of the sriram Sagar Project (SRSP) after the project saw large inflows as a result of the severe rains in Maharashtra, Nizamabad, and the surrounding districts.

On Wednesday, the project's Dam Site Executive engineer said that they planned to raise the flood gates and discharge water into the godavari river since the india Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted strong rainfall in the upcoming 24 hours. He requested that Revenue authorities take the necessary action to address the problem and inform the populace about the water leak.


The State made a new presentation on monday before the Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) of the Ministry of Environment and Forests, addressing the environmental obstacles that prevented the implementation of the irrigation component under the Palamuru-Ranga reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme Stage-II. This presentation is most likely to be the State's final one.

The cost of environmental damage determined as required by the EAC in accordance with the regular operating procedures was properly the focus of the presentation made by the project authority. It was the crucial element that the EAC emphasised when delaying the project's environmental approval in earlier meetings.
