Telangana - Gourigundala waterfalls closed following death of two youngsters
People from the neighbouring communities began travelling to the location after learning about the waterfalls to catch a view of the water cascading from the Gattusingaram hills. Visitors delighted themselves by taking showers under waterfalls in addition to snapping selfies in front of them. On July 23, this year, authorities blocked the road with barriers after warning the public not to approach the waterfall due to high water levels. Despite the police warning, a variety of persons had come to the location.
Manupati venkatesh Prasad, a small boy, tragically drowned in waterfalls on July 26. venkatesh, a resident of Kisannagar in the town of Karimnagar, travelled to the location with his pals to take in the picturesque splendour of the waterfall but drowned while bathing. A child also perished on July 11, 2022, after falling from the top of a waterfall. The young person unintentionally died after falling into waterfalls while taking a photo.
Following the death of the young person last year, gramme panchayat officials put up a sign warning people not to climb rocks for selfies. Despite the caution, young people used to prioritise selfies. On Saturday, Rema Rajeshwari, the commissioner of police, went to the waterfalls and inquired about Venkatesh's passing. In her interactions with the locals, she gave advice on how to avoid mishaps when going to the waterfall for fun.
