Based on passenger profiling and monitoring, customs authorities at RGIA confiscated 3743 gms of illegal
gold in three cases, worth at Rs 2.29 crore. Passengers from
jeddah arrived in
hyderabad in two instances. In the first case, an
iron box was used to conceal 594 grammes of
gold worth Rs 36,41,142 crore. In the second instance, three
gold capsules and a portable speaker were used to hide 1225 gms of
gold, which was worth Rs 75,14,150 lakh.
The third incident involved a passenger who was going from
hyderabad to Dubai. On the basis of precise intelligence, 1924 gms of paste-form
gold worth Rs 1,18,01,816 crore that was hidden in pants was confiscated. The Customs Act of 1962 was used to
arrest the passengers in the second and third incidents. The subject is currently the subject of more inquiry.
