Many secunderabad Cantonment residents wrote to and met with CEO madhukar Naik of the secunderabad Cantonment Board to request that he suggest to the defence ministry the merger of civil areas, regardless of the categorization of lands, with the GHMC.

Evidently, the indian government is moving swiftly to remove civil areas from the secunderabad cantonment. In order to avoid any potential problems in the future, we wanted to submit our proposal to the Board to propose to the MoD as part of the process. If such suggestions are not made, the issues cannot be made up in any way, according to Ward 8 resident Arvind Baju.

Residents worry that the land categorization may prevent their merging with the local municipal body, keeping them under military rule. The majority of those residing in these locations are labourers who have been residing on these grounds for many years. Another delegate, G. Abel, stated that the bulk of those residing in the secunderabad cantonment were destitute and lived in poverty. Because of this, he continued, "proper excision and merger is a matter in the interest of four lakh people, who will greatly benefit from this."
