Groundwater levels in the state rose in July during the monsoon season as a result of excessive rainfall of 62% in june and July. As of July, the average depth to water was 6.17 metres below ground level (bgl), down from 8.67 metres in june and 8.37 metres in May, according to the groundwater department's most recent data. In Jagtial, the ground water level was 2.84 m bgl at its lowest, and 11.67 m bgl at its highest. The average water level was less than 5 m-bgl in 14 of the 33 districts, between 5 and 10 m-bgl in 17, and more than 10 m-bgl in two districts.

The water levels did, however, decrease by 1.03 m-bgl in July 2023 when compared to the groundwater level in July 2022, with the exception of Bhupalapally, Jogulamba Gadwal, Mulugu, and Sangareddy, which exhibited an increase. The average maximum groundwater level increased by 1.25 m between July 2022 and July 2023 at Bhupalpally.

In addition, the report stated that only 3% of the state's area was covered by moderately deep (15–20 m bgl) and very deep (20 m bgl) water levels, which included the districts of Medak, Sangareddy, Siddipet, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Nagarkurnool, Vikarabad, Bhadradri, and Bhupalpally.

In 14 mandals, an increase of 0.5 was seen relative to the decadal average of July 2013 to July 2022, and the area with deep water levels of more than 20 m rose from 4227 square km to 653 square km. According to groundwater department representatives who spoke to the Deccan Chronicle, groundwater levels would rise in august as a result of the heavy rains in July since it takes two to three weeks for the groundwater level to recharge. According to the research, the state's groundwater levels are sufficient at the moment.
