13 Lakh Girls, Women Missing in 3 Years - NCRB
Data from the Union home ministry was presented to parliament last week, showing that between 2019 and 2021, there were 10,61,648 women above the age of 18 and 2,51,430 girls under the age of 18. According to statistics produced by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), in the three years 1,60,180 women and 38,234 girls went missing in madhya pradesh, 1,56,905 women and 36,606 children went missing in West Bengal, and 1,78,400 women and 13,033 kids went missing in Maharashtra.
The criminal Law (Amendment) Act was passed to allow for even more stricter penal provisions, including the death penalty, for the rape of girls under the age of 12. The government also informed parliament that it had taken a number of initiatives for the safety of women across the nation. In rape cases, it required that the investigation be finished, the charge sheet filed, and the trial be finished all within two months.
