Why is the Justice rohini Commission report important?

Before the general elections to be held in india, all the parties are trying their best to get maximum number of voters on their side in their own way. In the meantime, the rohini Commission, formed on the possibility of dividing the OBC reservation into sub-categories, has submitted its report to President Draupadi Murmu.

This report has been submitted at a time when the opposition is constantly demanding caste census. In fact, india, a coalition of 26 opposition parties, is trying to win over backward and scheduled caste voters to defeat bjp in next year's general elections.

In such a situation, the question arises that what is the whole matter of dividing OBC reservation into sub-categories and why is the Justice rohini Commission report so important?

What is the matter of classification of OBC castes?

According to a report of the Mandal Commission, all OBC caste people in india get 27 percent reservation from enrollment to jobs in Central Educational Institutions.

Now the problem is that there are 3000 castes in the OBC list of the Central Government. But there are only a few castes who are currently able to take advantage of OBC reservation. In such a situation, there is a debate about dividing the reservation into sub-categories, so that its benefits can be given equally to all the castes.

When and why rohini Commission was formed?

Amidst the debate on the classification of OBC castes, the central government on october 2, 2017 announced the formation of a commission for the purpose of distributing the central list of OBCs. It was named rohini Commission and retired Chief Justice of delhi High court G. rohini should be its president. Because of his name, the commission was also named Rohini. This commission, constituted in 2017, has got extension 13 times so far.
