Former maharashtra minister nawab malik has been granted bail by the supreme Court. nawab malik was in jail since february 2022 in a money laundering case. nationalist congress party (NCP) leader Malik was arrested by the ED in february 2022 in a money laundering case linked to fugitive terrorist Dawood Ibrahim. The ED had accused the minister of being associated with the underworld. nawab malik was also in the limelight for attacking former zonal director of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Samir Wankhede. He had accused Wankhede of several wrongdoings related to the service under the Anti-Drug Officer following the october 2021 raid on a ship at the mumbai port. At that time Malik's son-in-law sameer Khan was arrested by Wankhede's mumbai unit in a drug case.
During a hearing in the bombay high court in July this year, the court accepted that Malik's right to life had not been violated in any way. He was being provided with "special medical assistance".
