Telangana to get 500 MW wind power from SECI

SIBY JEYYA
The Solar Energy Corporation of india (SECI) will establish a 1300 megawatt (MW) total capacity wind power plant in telangana, tamil Nadu, and madhya pradesh that is connected to the Inter-State Transmission System plant (ISTS). telangana state would receive 500 MW across the Nizamabad, Rangareddy, and medak substations out of a total capacity of 1300 MW. In the meantime, Karur City in tamil Nadu will receive 300 MW.

The madhya pradesh cities of Neemuch, Mandsaur, and Pachora will each receive 500 MW. This program requires wind Power Developers (WPDs) to create wind Power Projects that are connected to the ISTS in order to supply SECI with renewable energy. The build-own-operate (BOO) model will be used for these projects.

The SECI has just made available the Request for Selection (RfS) for Tranche XV wind Power Projects. Bids will be accepted starting on september 25 and must be submitted by september 20. In order to purchase wind electricity for a 25-year period, the winning bidders selected based on this RfS will sign into an electricity Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the SECI. telangana now has 128 MW of installed wind capacity, with 100 MW coming from Pargi windmills and 28 MW from turbines close to Zaheerabad on the Hyderabad-Mumbai highway.

According to estimates, india will soon have access to more than 200 GW of commercially viable wind energy. india now has 168.96 GW of total renewable energy capacity (as of february 28, 2023), with about 41 GW currently in the tendering stage and about 82 GW of that capacity being implemented in various stages. This consists of 64.38 GW of solar power, 64.38 GW of wind power, 51.79 GW of hydropower, and 10.77 GW of biopower.
