Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president sukhbir singh badal on friday announced that he would cancel all river water

sharing agreements with other states if his party returns to power in punjab in the 2027 assembly elections. Will do

water of punjab, but unfortunately it is getting more than half of our total water. Badal said that he would ensure that

the farmers of the state would also be able to benefit from the precious water resources. Because they have to data-face its

Know what is Ravi-Beas water dispute?

Let us tell you that water disputes are going on in many states of the country. Out of these, the Ravi-Beas water

dispute has also been going on for a long time. This has been a dispute between rajasthan and punjab since the

punjab Reorganization Act of 1966. After the enactment of the Act, when haryana and punjab were separated,

haryana claimed the water of these rivers as its own.

Many areas may be drought prone

A study by the punjab government has shown that many areas of the state may be prone to drought by 2029. Ground

water has been over-exploited for irrigation. punjab gives wheat and paddy worth about Rs 70,000 crore to the

Center every year. Out of 138 blocks of the state, the condition of 109 blocks is serious in terms of drought. Because

of this, punjab does not want to share water with other states.
