Competition for BJP-Congress tickets in Lohawat
Lohawat is one of the 10 assembly seats in jodhpur district of Rajasthan. Lohawat assembly constituency was
formed after the 2008 delimitation. Since the coming into existence of this assembly, elections have been held
three times till now. Out of which the bjp candidate has won twice, while once the congress has hoisted the
flag of victory.
After the announcement of the recent state government, new districts were formed in the state. After which the
Lohawat assembly seat has been shifted to Phalodi district. Caste equation dominates the elections on this seat.
On caste basis, the maximum population here belongs to Bishnoi community. The votes of the Bishnoi
community play a decisive role in the Lohawat assembly seat, where the population of this community is about
60 thousand.
Apart from the Bishnoi community, the population of Rajput here is 55 thousand. After this, there are sc ST
45 thousand, Muslim 12 thousand, Jat 15 thousand, OBC 35 thousand, about 10 thousand general voters. So far
in the assembly elections held in 2008, 2013 and 2018, the Rajput candidate has won twice. On the other hand,
the candidate of Bishnoi community has won the Lohawat assembly seat once.
Defeat win figure on Lohawat assembly - election was held for the first time in 2008 on the Lohawat assembly
seat. In this election, bjp made Gajendra Singh Khinvsar its candidate, while congress made Mahendra Singh
Bhati its candidate. Gajendra Singh Khinvsar won the election by getting 44 thousand 437 votes, Malaram
Bishnoi got 36 thousand 742 votes as the second independent candidate. While the third number Congress
candidate mahendra singh Bhati got only 17 thousand 964 votes.
