Telangana government allocates Rs.100 crore for expansion of hospital services in Old City

For the extension of government medical services in the older portions of the city, the state government has set aside a budget of around Rs. 100 crore. The action followed successful advocacy by AIMIM mla and floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi in the State Assembly. This project will upgrade the Barkas, Kamatipura, and Dabeerpura hospitals, adding 200 beds to each of these healthcare institutions. Additionally, there are plans to restore and renovate the historic Nizamia Tibbi college and Unani Hospital buildings.

On Wednesday, Owaisi toured the Nizamia Tibbi, Kamatipura, and Barkas Hospitals with the help of chandrasekhar Reddy, the managing director of the telangana State Medical services and Infrastructure Development Corporation, and other authorities. The health Department approved Rs. 42 crore for the construction of a new 100-bed hospital facility in Kamatipura in response to Akbaruddin Owaisi's proposal.


Owaisi later examined the Barkas Area Hospital with government representatives. The administration has suggested turning Barkas UPHC into a local hospital with 100 beds. The present building would receive a second level at an estimated cost of Rs. 12.30 crore. The department has approved Rs. 33.70 crores for the rehabilitation and extensive refurbishment of Nizamia Tibbi college and Unani Hospital.
