Plantation of Record One Crore Saplings in Telangana - CM KCR to launch
On Saturday, a record one crore saplings will be planted around the State. Rangareddy's Manchirevulu Tech Forest Park will serve as the official launch location for the huge effort. The telangana government introduced the Haritha Haram scheme in 2015 in an effort to protect biodiversity and expand the amount of green space in the State. Apart from government agencies and elected public officials, citizens have consistently engaged in the initiative over the years. The State has planted more than 288 billion seedlings at a cost of Rs. 11,095 crore, making Haritha Haram the third-largest environmental conservation effort ever performed by humans to protect the environment.
The program's effective execution has produced positive outcomes. According to the union administration, the State's green cover has expanded by 7.7 percent. A total of 14,864 nurseries have been built around the state to satisfy the need for different kinds of saplings as well as regional and climatic diversity. In order to plant the 19.29 billion saplings that were intended to be planted this year, 30.29 billion saplings have been grown.
Successful afforestation efforts have resulted in block plantings covering 2.03 lakh acres and revitalised forests covering 13.44 lakh acres. 55 crore plants had root stock treatment to address the locust threat. 21,452 forest fire lines were created to safeguard trees in wooded areas from wildfire mishaps. In addition to soil conservation, attempts to improve water retention capacity included building check dams and tanks.
Large-scale plantations, particularly those with tall trees, have been established both in urban and rural locations, increasing urban aesthetics without infringing on urban spaces. Following the destruction of Haritha Haram, hyderabad underwent a transformation into a Green City of renown, claiming a 147 percent increase in green cover, according to the Forest survey of India. A total of 456 new parks have been created thanks to the project, all in Hyderabad.
