Former Uttar Pradesh minister Amarmani and his wife Madhumani poetess Madhumita Shukla were
convicted in the murder case. Since then he is serving life sentence. At present, after completing 20 years in
the poetess Madhumita Shukla murder case, the government has issued an order to release both of them. This
order has been issued by the Prison Administration and Reforms Department with the permission of the
Governor. In fact, former cabinet minister Amarmani Tripathi and his wife were found guilty in the murder
case of poetess Madhumita Shukla, who was mla from Laxmipur assembly of Maharajganj in Uttar Pradesh.
After which the court sentenced him to life imprisonment. At present, after 20 years of this case, Amarmani
Tripathi has been forgiven the rest of his sentence because of his good conduct.
Dehradun's fast track court had sentenced
Let us tell you that on May 9, 2003, famous poetess Madhumita Shukla was shot dead in Paper Mill Colony,
Nishatganj, Lucknow. The then chief minister Mayawati had handed over the investigation of this murder
case to the cbi after heating up the politics on this matter. During the investigation, Amarmani was accused
of threatening the witnesses, then the case was shifted to the fast track court of Dehradun. Where the
investigating agency convicted Amarmani and his wife Madhumani.
Pardon for good conduct
While hearing the case, on october 24, 2007, Dehradun’s Fast Track court convicted former minister
Amarmani and his wife Madhumani, including his nephew Rohit Chaturvedi and shooter Santosh Rai, and
sentenced them to life imprisonment. At present, after serving 20 years of sentence, his remaining sentence
has been waived in view of his good conduct.
