WCD minister Atishi has written to the Chief Secretary, citing media reports on complaints of sexual harassment against a WCD (Women and Child Development Department) officer in the government accused of repeatedly raping a minor in Delhi. Atishi questioned in the letter that, how was such an officer allowed to work in theWomen and Child Development Department?Atishi further wrote that, if there were repeated complaints of sexual harassment against this officer then why noaction was taken? Atishi raised serious questions on the process of disposal of complaints and disciplinary actionagainst officers. Atishi further asked, which senior officers were aware of the repeated offenses by this WCDofficer? Atishi has directed the Chief Secretary to submit a detailed report on the multiple sexual harassmentcomplaints against the WCD officer.Answers sought to these questionsThe report sought by Atishi has sought answers regarding the enquiry, the officers handling the complaints andthe disciplinary action taken on the complaints against the accused officer. Let us inform that the matter ofraping his friend's daughter and making her pregnant by a senior officer working in the women and ChildDevelopment Department of delhi government is in headlines for the last few days. In this matter, the DelhiPolice registered a case and got involved in the investigation. The accused officer and his wife have been sent tojudicial custody by the court.
