A significant milestone occurred on wednesday when the Transmission Corporation of telangana Limited (TSTRANSCO) successfully tested the 400/11 kV substation at Narlapur as part of the palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme. The 400 kV lines from Dindi to Yedula (60 km) and Yedula to Narlapur (30 km), which were tested during the test and extended supplies to 400 kV Narlapur Lift Irrigation substation, were successful. This information was provided by Chairman and Managing director of TSTRANSCO & TSGENCO D prabhakar Rao, who was present.

The irrigation department can now operationalize the pumps in phases thanks to the 400 kv Narlapur substation's technical charging, he added. Transco has begun work on building four 400 kV substations and linked 400 kV lines totaling 300 km in length at a cost of Rs. 2,155 crore, he said, in accordance with instructions from chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to provide bulk power supply to the PRLI programme.

According to him, four 400 kV substations are being built under the PRLI programme in Narlapur, Yedula, Vattem, and Uddandapur. The 400/11 kV Narlapur substation has nine 165 MVA power transformers and two 25 MVA station transformers. Within a few days, the irrigation department plans to conduct a dry run of two 145 mw motors at the Narlapur pump house.

The Narlapur pump house's 145 mw motors are larger than the 139 mw bahubali motors utilised at the Ramadugu Pump house of the kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project. The Narlapur pump house has 9 145 mw motors to pump water from the srisailam Reservoir's rear shore. Both Advisor (Irrigation) Penta reddy and Chairman and Managing director of tsspdcl G Raghuma reddy were present.
