Three persons, including the
husband, have been detained by the
rajasthan police on suspicion of openly assaulting and stripping a woman in the Pratapgarh area while filming the incident. Seven further suspects in the investigation are being held by the police. According to reports, the 20-year-old victim is four months pregnant.
The victim's
spouse Kana
meena and two other
people, Veliya
meena and Nathu Meena, were among the three suspects detained. On Saturday, the
rajasthan police said that the three suspects had been hurt during their arrest. "Three suspects were detained and are receiving medical attention after becoming hurt while attempting to flee from the police. More suspects would be taken into custody shortly, according to Banswara IG S Parimala.
What Happened?
The
event allegedly occurred on
august 31 at about 5:00 p.m. The woman, who wed a year ago, was assaulted by her
husband and in-laws who claimed she had run off with a neighbour. Additionally, the accused reportedly stripped her nude and paraded her through the hamlet. The Pratapgarh
police also issued a warning against sharing the footage on social media.
A case has been registered against 10
people under sections 294 (obscene act), 323 (causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), 354 (assaulting women), 365 (kidnapping), 498 (detaining married woman) and 504 (insulting someone) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the
indian Penal Code and section 67 (transmitting obscene material) of the Information
technology Act.
Umesh Mishra, the DGP of Pratapgarh in
rajasthan, informed the
news agency PTI that the victim's in-laws are thought to be responsible for the heinous murder. "The preliminary inquiry established that the victim's in-laws committed the abhorrent deed. They were irritated that she had left for another location. Thus, they abducted her and brought her to their hamlet, the scene of the terrible occurrence, Mishra stated. The senior officer added that all suspects had been located and that
police units were pursuing the culprits.
