Govt school students should start from class 11- Ramdas..!?
The reality is that fulfilling that duty has become more challenging now than it was in the past. Cracking the NEET exam and getting admission in government reserved seats in medical courses has become difficult. In the current year, not a single government school student joined the general category except those who joined the 7.50% quota for government school students. Even among the 7.50% reserved seats for government school students, only 20% students clear NEET in their first attempt. Remaining 80% students after passing 12th in government schools and after more than one year of specialized training in private coaching centers write NEET, score high marks and join medical courses.
The reservation of 7.50% seats was brought with the objective of providing the rural and poor students studying in government schools with the opportunity to study medicine. But it is unfortunate that even if you have to enroll in medical course under that seat reservation, you have to take training for NEET exam in private coaching centers. The only solution to change this situation is to provide quality training in tamil Nadu government schools rather than private training centers. However, the school education department of the tamil Nadu government does not seem to have realized the need to implement this inevitable solution.Affluent students who clear NEET and wish to join medical courses undergo training in private institutes for at least two to four years. After that training, if they fail to crack NEET in the first attempt, they undergo training again for a couple of years. In this way, many people have to undergo up to 6 years of training to crack the NEET exam, how can 14 days of training be enough for only government school students?
The tamil Nadu government should now realize the need to train the government school students for a long time till they get the NEET exemption. The Department of school Education should ensure that all students are given at least two years of coaching, abandoning the nominal one-day-a-week coaching only for Class 12 students from november to February. For that, the government should provide complete training for two years from the week of class 11 to the week before the start of class 12 with competent teachers and experts. While last year the circle was given NEET coaching in only one centre, this year the circle is to be given coaching in two centres. All willing students should be given the opportunity to join the training. Manual and question-answer set should be provided free of cost to the students joining the training. Ramadas requested that the tamil Nadu school education department should take steps to start the training classes for the current year.
