Karnataka's Biggest Land Scam: Secretary doesn't get away with it..!?
He arrived in Chikkamagaluru district today and after holding a progress review meeting on various programs in the district panchayat hall, he spoke to reporters at the district commissioner's office hall. He informed that no beneficiary who is really deserving will be allowed to suffer. A team of about 15 special officers has been conducting a comprehensive investigation since 1 month after the issue of illegal land allotment in Kadur and Mudigere taluks came to light. He warned that the government has taken this scam very seriously and will not let anyone who has done wrong be punished and will not give away the government land to anyone.
The investigation process is going on and the interim report is yet to come. In the meantime, they have lacked information and it has been found that most of the illegal activities have taken place. The investigation into this scam is being scrutinized from all angles. Such scams cannot be done by one person. He said that the investigation is going on to target all those involved in this scam.
Allotment of land without proper documents
According to the information available to them now, in Kadur taluk, out of 1320 cases, 3700 acres have been allotted without proper documents. Some files are missing. Similarly, in Mudigere taluk, 2500 acres of land has been allotted illegally in 1030 cases, he said. All these cases are classified into 2 groups and listed. He said that a list of cases sanctioned in complete violation of the law and a list of suspicious cases has been made. In cases of doubt the investigation team is instructed to report and not to allot land to genuine eligible beneficiaries. He said that the direction has been given to facilitate all the eligible farmers as much as possible. He said that since this morning, three or four issues related to the district have been discussed and instructions have been given to prepare for a joint survey mainly to resolve the confusion of forest and revenue land.
In this regard, a team has been formed under the chairmanship of the district Collector, and orders have been made regarding the preparations for conducting the survey, the use of technology, etc. He said that within 3 months, all the preparations for conducting the joint survey will be made and the joint survey will be conducted from Mudigere taluk. An area of one lakh and fourteen thousand hectares in the district was previously identified as protected forest, and as per the recent supreme court directive, about 52,000 hectares remain as protected forest and the remaining area will be returned to the revenue department. In the next two to three days, an illegal committee will be formed for those who have applied for land sanction in various government projects on this land. He said that all the process of allotment of land to the eligible beneficiaries will begin. In order to verify the reality of land cultivation, a mobile app has been prepared and the land will be allotted to the real beneficiaries based on the satellite survey. Similarly, ``Revenue Beat'' system will be implemented in order to collect the details of the revenue land, and the condition of the land will be recorded every three months using a satellite-based mobile app, he said.
When attention was drawn to Kadane Havali, the matter was discussed with the district Collector and Forest Officers, who said that they would be instructed to make a plan for the relocation of very small villages in the middle of the forest. district Collector meena Nagaraj was present at the press conference.
