Fierce demonstration by night shelter workers-BJP alleges-Government...
Arvind Kejriwal’s government has always been talking about providing employment to the people and
providing shelter to the homeless and poor people, the same delhi government has today taken such a step due
to which thousands of people have become unemployed. The effect of this is that the helpless people are in
danger of losing their night shelter. We are not saying this, but this is the allegation of thousands of night
shelter workers who are protesting and shouting slogans outside the DUSIB department office. He has been
fired from the job without any reason and without notice. Whereas they have been providing their services in
night shelters with full honesty for years.
DUSIB officer not ready to meet the victims
delhi bjp spokesperson praveen Shankar Kapoor accused the kejriwal government and said that as part of a
conspiracy to close the night shelters, the shelter workers are being thrown out of their jobs. He said that the
delhi government is continuously cutting the funds of the NGOs which are running these night shelters. The
result is that NGO operators have started firing their employees. This is the reason why night shelter worker
Satyajit working at ITO reached DUSIB's office to protest. Sadly, Delhi's Social Welfare minister and DUSIB
officials refused to even meet him. This attitude of DUSIB shows that delhi government has become
insensitive towards the employees.
Taking a jibe at the delhi government, the bjp leader said that hundreds of socio-religious organizations are
already running charitable dharamshalas etc. in delhi, but it is surprising that the delhi government is trying
to shirk its responsibility towards the homeless. If the kejriwal government cannot provide funds to the NGOs
running these night shelters, then they should be handed over to those socio-religious organizations which can
themselves raise funds to run the night shelters.
