Cotton prices expected to range from Rs 7,550 to 8,000 per quintal in Telangana
Due to seasonal factors that were unfavourable to producers in some areas, the state's cotton area had somewhat decreased. The sown area fell short by around two lakh acres. The drop is about in line with the big picture. As a result, it could have a small influence on supply and output, raising total demand.
During the most recent marketing season, premium stocks from farmers in several State marketplaces sold for up to Rs 11,500 to Rs 12,000 per quintal. However, the growers who kept their inventories in the hopes of a price increase were in for a harsh awakening as the price abruptly dropped to below Rs 7,500 per quintal due to weak demand from the ginning mills and a decline in exports.
After a lengthy wait, farmers are now selling their inventories at the current market price of Rs 6,500 to 7,500. A little price increase might be anticipated at the start of the marketing season. According to R Vijay Kumari, Principal Investigator, Agriculture Market Intelligence Centre, Prof Jayashankar Agriculture University, there aren't any significant differences in the predicted output of cotton in china and the United States, India's two main international rivals.
The cotton pre-sowing price projection for 2023–2024 has been evaluated by the centre, which anticipates normal rainfall and an expansion of the crop area. When cotton is harvested (November 2023 to february 2024), it is expected that the price per quintal would be between Rs. 7,550 and 8,000.
