Telangana Girl Jaahnavi Death - KTR Appeals To US Ambassador

IT minister K.T. Rama Rao urged US Ambassador to india Eric Garcetti and External Affairs minister S. jaishankar to ensure justice is served to the victim's family on Thursday, a day after US police made comments following the death of ap student Jaahnavi Kandula in the US by a police car traveling at 70 mph.

Rama Rao said on the social media site X that the completely repugnant and insensitive remarks of police officers had severely upset and saddened him. jaishankar was also asked by Rama Rao to bring up the situation with his colleague and urge an impartial investigation. "It is tragic that a young person with lofty aspirations has had her life cut short, but what's more tragic and shocking is that a small monetary value has been ascribed to her life," he said.


On january 25, 2023, a Seattle police cruiser struck a 23-year-old student from Adoni in the kurnool region of Andhra Pradesh; she died as a result. The police officers' remarks about her life "having a limited value" and about signing a cheque for $11,000 in compensation were captured on body cameras at the time of the tragedy. The video was recently made public by the Seattle police. In 2021, Jaahnavi relocated to the USA to continue her schooling. She was attending Northeastern University's Seattle campus to complete her master's in information systems.
