Women’s Reservation Bill got approval from the Central Government

Congress Parliamentary party (CPP) President sonia gandhi on tuesday (September 19) reacted to the Union Cabinet

approving the long-awaited Women’s Reservation Bill, saying, This is ours. After reaching parliament on Tuesday

morning, sonia gandhi gave a sharp reply. When she was asked about bringing the Women’s Reservation Bill again in

Parliament, she said, It is ours, it is ours.


His comments come a day after the Union cabinet chaired by prime minister Narendra Modi approved the

Constitution Amendment Bill to provide reservation for women in parliament and state legislatures, paving the way for

the introduction of the landmark bill in the ongoing special session of Parliament. Has been expanded.

There was discussion on passing the bill in the special session of the congress Working Committee meeting.

In the recently concluded two-day congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, the highest decision-making body of

the party, the congress had in its resolution demanded passing of the Women's Reservation Bill in a special session of

Parliament. On Monday, congress President and leader of Opposition in rajya sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, ncp leader

Supriya Sule, congress leader in lok sabha adhir ranjan chowdhury demanded passing of the bill in a special session.

HD Deve Gowda was the first to present the bill in Parliament.

The bill to reserve 33 percent seats for women was first introduced in 1996 by H.D. Was introduced by Deve Gowda

government. The Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government reintroduced the law in 2008. This law

was passed by the rajya sabha in 2010, but it could not be passed in the lok sabha and it lapsed after its dissolution in

2014.
