Sensation in Singapore..!? Lawyer slapped a woman..!?
Ravi Mataswamy, a Singaporean lawyer of indian origin who has already been suspended in controversy in Singapore, says M. ravi slapped a woman on her left cheek at a Hindu temple on South Bridge Road last Friday, creating a sensation. The man, now 54, was handed four charges in Singapore's state courts last Saturday. A case has been registered against him under general sections, one for voluntarily causing hurt and the other for disorderly conduct in public places. On the day of the incident, he allegedly slapped the woman at Sri mariamman temple around 12 noon. He is said to have shouted obscenities there. It is also noted that he later hurt another woman in the temple by calling her an adulteress.
Earlier, around 11 am on the day of the incident, he had abused someone on Pagoda Street using foul language. He is also said to have used profanity in tamil towards the man. In this case, ravi was detained at the Mental health Institute on saturday for a medical examination. He will be produced in court on september 29. Against lawyer ravi, two similar charges are already pending. Last July 12, he allegedly slapped a man on the cheek near Yio Chu Kang MRT station. It is also worth noting that ravi is currently serving a maximum suspension of five years for making "baseless and serious" allegations against the Attorney General, lawyers and the Law Society that undermine the integrity of Singapore's justice system.
