Since 1952, around 41 Heads of State and government from across the world have addressed the Central Hall of the indian Parliament. The prime minister said that several Presidents of india have addressed the Center Hall 86 times. He said that in the last seventy years the lok sabha and the rajya sabha have passed about four thousand laws. He mentioned about Dowry Prevention Act, bank Staff Selection Commission Bill and laws to fight terrorism. He also pointed to the triple talaq Prohibition Act. prime minister Modi also highlighted the laws for transgenders and differently-abled persons. Highlighting the contribution of people's representatives in abrogating Article 370, the prime minister expressed pride that the Constitution given to us by our forefathers is now being implemented in Jammu and Kashmir.
Noting that "Bharat is full of potential", prime minister Modi said this renewed spirit will help every citizen realize their dreams with dedication and hard work. The prime minister expressed confidence that india is sure to reap the benefits of the chosen path. “Quick benefits can be gained with a fast rate of progress”, he added. Referring to India's progress as one of the top five economies, the prime minister said that the world and india are hopeful that it will enter the top three economies. Emphasizing the importance of creating a self-reliant india, he said the world is talking about India's self-reliant model. He also emphadata-sized the need for india to reach new heights in the manufacturing sector. Emphasizing the need to take the right decisions at the right time, the prime minister said "decision-making cannot be delayed" and said people's representatives cannot be controlled by political gains or losses. india was considered a neutral country during the Cold War, but today india is called a 'friend of the world'. The prime minister noted that india approaches other countries for friendship, while they look for a friend in India.
Prime minister Modi then asked the Vice President and lok sabha Speaker that the pride and dignity of the present building should be preserved at all costs and it should not be relegated to the status of an old parliament building.
