The single bench of Justice Rajveer Singh gave the verdict on Monday. After the completionof the arguments, the high court had reserved the decision on 20 September. Mukhtar Ansarihad filed an application in the high court challenging the 10-year sentence. mp MLASpecial court of Ghazipur had given sentence in the gangster case. On april 29, MukhtarAnsari was found guilty and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment.Advocate upendra Upadhyay filed the certificateMukhtar Ansari’s advocate upendra Upadhyay had filed the certificate in the High Court.Advocate upendra Upadhyay had told the court that Mukhtar Ansari has been in jail for 12years and 4 months since remand was made in this case. The lawyer’s argument was thatMukhtar Ansari had already spent more days in jail during the trial than the punishmentawarded to him. In this matter the court had also sought a report from the Banda JailSuperintendent.
